Current Condition

It has been fitted with flanged railway wheels to represent a locomotive jeep, which were used in transport operations in North Borneo in 1945. (from AWM website)

Vehicle History

This vehicle was used by the Australian Army Military History Section and is one of approximately 16,500 jeeps supplied to Australian forces during the Second World War. Post war, it continued to be used by the Military History section until 1947 when it was transferred to the Australian War Memorial. This vehicle originally carried the United States Army registration number, 20586452. (from AWM website)
