Jeep . Photo credit: Richard Hearing
Army registration: 48 YH 73.
This jeep was manufactured under contract number SM2275. It carried a wartime registration number M5537536.
This is the earliest surviving example of the jeep issued to the British Army. Over half a million were produced by the two companies by the end of World War Two (1939-1945). By great good fortune its original finish, fittings and mechanical parts are immaculate to period. Other examples tend to be modified for post-War road-use.
