Cruiser Tank Mk VIII Cromwell . Photo credit: Michel Krauss
Physical condition is very poor, this tank was lost during WW2 after been hit in the rear engine plate. The hit resulted in a catastrophic fire that made the ammunition explode. Full interior destroyed, parts of suspension missing, tracks are post-WW2 APC replacements. The outside is only cosmetically restored, the markings are not correct.
This tank belonged to 11th Armoured Division and was lost in October 1944, during Operation Aintree (The battle of Overloon). After WW2 it remained on the battle field and was one of the first vehicles of the museum.
