Vehicle History

The SU-26 self-propelled gun, which is on display in the museum, was produced in the fall of 1941 in besieged Leningrad, and was part of the 122nd Red Banner Tank Brigade. In a fierce battle in January - March 1942 at the turn of the Mga River near Pogostye station, this SU-26 was killed in action. The careful reconstruction of the combat vehicle from the fragments of the corps found and collected on the former battlefield took several years. This is the world's only SU-26 self-propelled gun, a warrior vehicle, a direct participant in the heroic battle for the city of Leningrad.
