Type
Medium Tank, M4
Version
A1 Grizzly
Location
Imperial War Museum Duxford
Cambridgeshire
CB22 4QR
United Kingdom
Currently in the Land Warfare Hall (May 2008)

Current Condition

The object is currently pained to represent "Akilla" personal tank of Sergeant George Dring MM, the leading British tank ace of World War Two, who served with the Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry (this is an incorrect scheme - Dring used an M4A4 Sherman)

Vehicle History

This Tank was the first of 188 off the production line at the Montreal Locomotives Works in September 1943. The rest of this object's history is unknown, apart from the fact that it was sold to the Portuguese Army post war, who used it during the Angolan War of Independence. It is very unlikely it saw any active service
